From the Program of Studies: Business Exploration Grade 9
This course is designed to expose students to a variety of course strands related to business technology. Students will rotate through economics, personal finance, business management, and web development. Students will further develop career skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork.

This course provides an introduction into the design process and creation of web pages, as well as, research into careers in the web page development industry will be explored.

Topics covered:

  • Basic site evaluation and rubric creation
  • Color Theory in Web Design
  • Web Standards and Accessible Design
  • Planning a Website
  • Pre-coding a website
  • Web Developer Career Information
    • Communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

Participation

As with any career, your employer will have expectations for your performance. The following personal management skills will help you in this class and in the real world working environment.

  1. Self Management – I come to class prepared and on time, follow directions the first time they are given, use appropriate language, and check for the work I’ve missed.
  2. Persistence – I am on task, proofread my work, have a positive mindset and use my resources (textbook, websites, help folder, posters, & classmates).
  3. Contribution – I participate in this class, respect my classmates and teacher, and help other classmates learn.

Grading: Points system

The teacher does not give grades; the student earns grades.
It is the student’s responsibility to make up any work missed due to absenteeism.

All makeup work is to be completed within 1 week of the due date, after that, a grade of Zero will be recorded.

    Folder
  • Any Additional Materials Required Will Be Discussed In Class.

Also, remember to handle lab equipment and materials responsibly. If you are unsure about the use of a piece of equipment please ask your teacher. In the event a piece of equipment is broken, it is up to the discretion of the administration as to the disciplinary actions that may be taken.
